Rules & Guidelines

1. How to Enter
A.
Fill out the International Seguridad Media Awards competition application. This form is available by clicking here or we can be email it to you.
B.
Review the category list to decide where your artwork should compete. Make sure you credit the members of your creative team, so that they will be recognized properly in press releases and winner publications.
C.
Submission of entries acknowledges the right of the International Safety Media Awards partners and Teaching Story to use them for publication, exhibition and marketing of the International Safety Media Awards and other educational programs.  By submitting an entry you accept responsibility for securing all appropriate media releases.

2. Deadline
Entries must be received by January 20, 2008 5pm Alaska Standard Time (GMT +09).
Your entry may be:

mailed or hand delivered to- Alaska Injury Prevention Center, 3701 E. Tudor, Suite 105, Anchorage, AK, USA 99507 , or

submitted online - click here for form.
All entries must be received by the deadline. There will be no exceptions. All entries must follow guidelines outlined in this guide. There is no entry fee for this competition.

Youth under 18 years old, with limited adult involvement

A. Feature Length: 30 minutes to 2 hours


B. Short: 1-30 minutes


C. Ultra Short: less than 1 minute

Adult Individuals, Businesses, Government Agencies, Nongovernmental Organizations.

4. Non-English Language Submissions
Entries that are created in a language other than English should include a translation in English. Translations should be attached to the entry form. Video entries created in a language other than English should include a translation of any spoken language in the form of English subtitles or spoken English voice-over. A written translation is not preferred, but will be accepted. Audio entries created in a language other than English should include a translation of any spoken language. Translations should be attached to the entry form.

5. Judging Procedures
Judging will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines outlined in this document by International Safety Media Awards judges. Decisions of judges including eligibility, qualifications and appropriate category placement are final.

Scoring Rubric

A.
Clarity - A clear message communicated in the entry.

B.
Attention Grabbing - How effectively the entry will attract the target audience's attention in socially appropriate manner.

C.
Persuasion - How effectively the entry will influence beliefs, attitudes and behaviors of the target audience through powerful storytelling.

D.
Technical Merit - Innovative use of technique for the category (ie, special effects, font, layout, sound, photographic quality, etc.

E.
Accuracy - truthfulness and accuracy of information in message.

F.
Campaign Evaluation - If the media submitted for this ISMA Contest was used in a media campaign and the campaign was evaluated, then describe in writing (1500 words or less) the methodology and effectiveness of the campaign.  Because one of the goals of the ISMA Contest is to share knowledge of campaigns and evaluations, this information will be included in the scoring process.

6. Rules
A.
By entering the competition, the entrant warrants that an entry is an original work created by the entrant and that the use or reproduction of the entry by the sponsors will not infringe the copyright or any other intellectual property of any third party.
B.
CD entries must be submitted on cross-platform CD-ROM and in QuickTime or Windows Media Player format. One media selection per CD.
C.
You may enter in as many different media categories, as you like; however, each ad can only be submitted once.
D.
Audio or ultra short film entries must be one minute or less in length.
E.
Media submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM (Alaska Standard Time, GMT +09) January 20, 2008.
F.
By submitting an entry, the contestant(s) give The International Safety Media Awards and Teaching Story partners the right to publish the ad in part or in whole in any medium.
G.
Copyright of the entry will remain with the entrant.
H.
If the media submitted for this ISMA Contest was used in a media campaign and the campaign was evaluated, then describe in writing (1500 words or less) the methodology and effectiveness of the campaign.  Because one of the goals of the ISMA Contest is to share knowledge of campaigns and evaluations, this information will be included in the scoring process.
I.
Follow format guidelines listed below:

1)
Print Category ideas include (but are not limited to) a magazine or newspaper advertisement, a poster, a brochure, photography, CD cover, a painting, etc. A hard copy of the print entry may be mailed to the Alaska Injury Prevention Center. Please understand that these may not be returned. Affix the entry form to the back of the entry. Print entries can also be submitted as a PDF document online, attached to the ENTRY FORM.

2)
Film Category ideas include (but are not limited to) TV commercials, music videos, etc. Films must be submitted on cross-platform CD-ROM and in QuickTime or Windows Media Player format or on a DVD. The length of the ultra short films must be one minute or less, short films one to thirty minutes long, feature length thirty minutes to two hours. A CD-ROM of the video entry may be mailed to the Alaska Injury Prevention Center. If submitted on CD, please only include one movie per CD. Videos may also be submitted online, attached to the ENTRY FORM.

3)
Audio Category ideas include (but are not limited to) Public Service Announcements (PSA), songs, radio advertisements, sound tracks, etc. Audio submissions should be sent on a CD in either Quicktime or MP3 format. Audio entries on CD-ROM may be mailed to the Alaska Injury Prevention Center. Audio entries may also be submitted online attached to the ENTRY FORM.
